The Liar’s Bench
Appropriate for all ages
Vern’s Varmint Trap? A plastering paddle? This lively program engages audiences of all ages as they are confronted by a variety of objects representing the Indiana State Museum's collection. The audience hears three stories about each object and then decides which one is true. The presentation also includes music and folk tales.

A Meeting of the Minds: Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass
Ages 14 – adult
This 45-minute live theater piece offers an imagined meeting between two of the 19th century’s most noted orators: Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. The moderated discussion includes topics such as slavery, women’s rights and the Civil War.

What is a Reptile?
Grades PreK – 3
This 20-minute original musical teaches children the scientific names of various reptile species while offering them an engaging hands-on experience. It can be accompanied by objects from the museum’s educational collection for additional learning.

What is a Mammal?
Grades PreK – 3
This 20-minute original musical teaches children the classifications of various mammals and exposes them to cows, bats, badgers, beavers and more. It can serve as a companion piece to What is a Reptile? or be accompanied by a crafts workshop.

Christmas with Bruce the Blue Spruce
Grades PreK – 3
Children will delight in this 30-minute presentation highlighting the Christmas holiday. The costumed character of Bruce the Blue Spruce leads children in song and hands-on activities. Raggedy Ann, Santa and Mrs. Claus may also appear by request for an extended experience.

Bad Indiana Music — The New Edition
Ages 14 – adult
Indiana has more songs written about it than any other state — and many of them are not “top drawer.” This engaging 45 to 60 minute program features live performances of such “jewels” as "She’s A Corn-Fed Indiana Gal, But She’s Mama to Me," "Santa Claus Has Moved to Indiana" and others.

The Indiana Songbook: Cole Porter and Hoagy Carmichael
Appropriate for an adult audience
A delightful hour of music featuring two of the 20th century’s greatest popular music composers: Peru’s Cole Porter and Bloomington’s Hoagy Carmichael.

Underground Railroad Workshop
Grades 3 – 6
Discover the importance of the Underground Railroad in Indiana and the United States before, during and after the Civil War. Characters from the time period lead participants through the various levels of the presentation, which highlights hands-on activities as part of the experience.

Atlatls and Bows and Arrows, Oh My!
Grades 3 – adult
This hands-on, outside workshop gives participants a glimpse into the lives of early Hoosiers and the opportunity to put their skills to the test with early hunting tools.
