Clues in the Old Mansion
Grades K – 3
Fee: $1 per student
Learn how to find clues about people of the past by what they have left behind. See what it was like to be a child in the 1840s with stories, games and manners.
Lanier Grounds Tour

Learn about historical plants and gardens from the 1800s.
Lanier Mansion School Group Tour
Grades K – 12
Fee: $1 per student
Topics include how Lanier helped to build Indiana’s economy and finance the Civil War; everyday life in a wealthy family in a bustling 1840s river town, and Greek Revival architecture.
Lanier Mansion’s Right Angle Architecture Tour
Grades 5 – 8
Fee: $3 per student
An interdisciplinary math and historic preservation experience that allows students to explore Greek Revival architecture and historic preservation.

Fee: $2 per student; plus mileage after 50 miles from Madison ($50 minimum outreach fee)
Learn about America’s economy during Lanier’s time and how to make sound financial decisions today.
1840s Kitchen Garden Essentials Student Workshop*
Grades K – 5
Available February – June 2012
$4 per student includes registration and material fee
Learn how to create your own Victorian kitchen garden. Each family or classroom will plant their own heirloom variety seeds to begin a garden of their own.

Legacy of the Limberlost at Lanier Mansion: Gene Stratton-Porter & Indiana's Natural Heritage
April 26, 2012; 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Grades 2 – 8
Fee: $4 per student
Delve into the world of beloved Hoosier author and naturalist Gene Stratton-Porter by taking part in a variety of activities exploring her environmental, artistic, and literary legacy including birding, photography, Indiana’s environment, artwork, and of course writing. Porter’s best-selling novel, A Girl of the Limberlost, was written in 1909 and influenced generations of naturalists and environmentalists. Call 812.273.4531 for reservations..
