Frequently Asked Questions
How large does our group have to be to receive discounted rates?
Groups are composed of 15 or more guests.
Do we need to make reservations ahead of time?
While it is not required, we strongly suggest calling ahead and reserving your group’s tickets.
When is the best time to visit?
School groups typically book in the mornings throughout the week. If you are looking for a quieter experience, we suggest booking your visit to the Indiana State Museum in the afternoons.
Where should we park?
For groups planning to arrive by car, you may park in the White River State Park underground parking garage on Washington Street. If you purchase museum tickets, your price for parking will be $3. If you buy tickets to an IMAX movie, you can park for free! For those planning to arrive by bus, the group may be dropped off in the circular drive in front of the Indiana State Museum. A member of our Guest Services team will direct your bus driver on where to park.
Where do we check-in?
Upon arrival to the Indiana State Museum, we ask that your group coordinator report to the ticketing desk in the Great Hall.
Is there a place for us to eat?
Absolutely! We offer several options for your group to choose from. Smaller groups can eat in one of our two restaurants. Additionally, we can provide boxed lunches or meal vouchers. Talk to your group sales coordinator about your different options.

Can we purchase souvenirs?
Yes! Our two-story gift shop, the Indiana Store, contains a wide variety of souvenirs and gifts related to the Hoosier state, including locally produced food items, unique jewelry, art and crafts by Indiana artisans, books, games and educational toys.
