EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The public is invited to a book fair benefiting Angel Mounds State Historic Site on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Barnes and Noble, located 624 S. Green River Road in Evansville, Ind.

A percentage of all sales made on October 29 will be donated to Angel Mounds State Historic Site and will include purchases made in the Bistro. The book fair fundraiser does require Barnes and Noble customers to mention Angel Mounds when making their purchase in-store.

“We are looking forward to sharing Native American techniques such as flint knapping and rope making at Barnes and Noble,” said Mike Linderman, Angel Mounds State Historic Site manager. “Though a percentage of the sales will benefit Angel Mounds, it’s just as important to be in front of kids and adults to talk about the history of the site, the history of the Mississippians who lived at Angel Mounds and the significance history has on our future.”

Angel Mounds staff will be in-store offering demonstrations including flint knapping, rope making and weaving. Several Native American and historical artifacts will be on display. Site staff will also be available to answer questions.

“Barnes and Noble is an excellent partner for Angel Mounds and we are grateful for this opportunity,” said Laura Limp, development officer for the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, who is based at the Angel Mounds site. “The ability to interact directly with their guests who are already interested in reading, music or art, will allow us to reach out to new faces and tell the story of Angel Mounds. Of course, the fundraising portion of the event is necessary, as the money will benefit Angel Mounds directly.”

If you are unable to attend the in-store event, online purchases benefitting the site may be made at BarnesandNoble.com between October 29 and November 4 using book fair ID #11958931.
