Angel Mounds State Historic Site offers a variety of summer camps in both weeklong and day camp formats. Campers will make new friends while trying out new activities and learning a little bit along the way. Weeklong Camps

Grades
Weeklong summer camps are designed for youth entering first through sixth grades in Fall 2019.

Time
Camp: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Before care: 8 to 9 a.m.
Aftercare: 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Price
Camp: $145/members; $160/non-members
Before care: $15 per child per week
Aftercare: $15 per child per week (Save $5 when booking both before and aftercare.)

Camps

Angel Mounds Mega Challenge
Are you a fan of all things competitive? If so, this is the camp for you! Test your skill in team and solo games, sports, puzzles and competitions. Fun activities will include:

  • Getting your hands dirty building obstacle courses to challenge other campers
  • Racing the clock in Minute-to-Win-It-style challenges
  • Dominating with your trivia knowledge. 

Play hard and your team can take home the trophy!

Twisted History
War! Torture! Disaster! Since the dawn of human existence, people have been getting things wrong. In this camp, you will:

  • Explore gross medical history from plague medicine to field amputations
  • Climb into the shoes of a soldier in world famous battles
  • Learn about engineering catastrophes like the Titanic and the Hindenburg.

This week is dedicated to the epic fails that have driven human innovation for centuries.

Wizard Academy
Have you ever wished you could change the world with a flick of your wrist? Join the Angel Mounds Wizards Academy to learn how to train a dragon, win a game of Muggle Quidditch and participate in the “Tri-River Tournament.” By the end of the week, you may just be the reigning witch or wizard!

Rowdy Romans
Join us as we explore the ancient Roman Empire. At its height the empire contained about 20 percent of the world’s population. You will learn about the people who made up the Roman Empire, test your skills as a Roman legionary and learn how the patricians lived in the imperium sine fine (empire without end).

SurvivorKid
Have you ever watched a movie like Swiss Family Robinson or The Hunger Games and wondered how the characters lived off the land? Answer these questions and more as you learn about how the ancient Mississippian people survived and thrived. Learn how to start a fire without matches, discover ways to track animals and build a shelter from materials you find in the woods.
Date: July 8-12, 2019

Junior Crime Scene Investigators
During this camp, you’ll learn the skills needed to investigate a crime scene, from fingerprinting suspects to processing DNA. After learning the skills needed to be a great crime scene investigator, campers will have the opportunity to design their own crime scenes for other campers to solve.

Adventure Angel
Anything goes during this week celebrating the end of summer! Kids will love cooling off on our 70-foot long slip-and-slide and participating in team building challenges. Inspiring curiosity, creativity and camaraderie, this camp is sure to be the highlight of the summer!

The Angel Mounds CIT program is an invitation-only program for former campers. If you are interested in participating, please email angelmoundsshs@indianamuseum.org to see if you qualify.

These single-day camps explore different topics and are designed to fit your schedule. Sign up for just one day, a few days, or the entire week.

Camps

July 29: Extreme Engineering
Expand your engineering skills by playing with bricks and other learning tools. During this one-day program, campers will experience a crash course in problem solving and creativity.

July 30: Amazing Escape
Campers with enthusiasm for escape rooms will delight in solving puzzles and uncovering secrets. Dream big and design plans for your own escape room.

July 31: Science with a Sweet Tooth
Candy lovers will appreciate this one-day adventure into the science of our favorite snacks. Explore how sugar turns into sticky, slimy and gummy candy, and watch sweets dance, grow and explode.

August 1: Angel Mounds at the Movies
Ever wonder how movies are made? Come to our one-day camp to learn techniques like stop-motion capture and how foley (movie sounds) artists bring movies to life.

August 2: PBS’ Odd Squad Operation Angel Mounds 
Step into the shoes of an Odd Squad agent at this one day camp. Agents will work together to crack codes and cold cases, capture Centigurps, and find out "whodunit." There is no limit to what the Odd Squad can achieve with their science, math and engineering skills. Campers of all ages will enjoy testing their skills with challenges and puzzles--they may even save the world in the process!
