    Exercise your creativity in Cardboard Engineering by creating a game out of cardboard. Then come to the Creativity Studio to add the finishing touches!

    Have a “spooktacular” time at the haunted trail around Fort Knox II and experience scare scenes based on local lore and legend. During the “no-scare hours,” little ones can enjoy games, a hay ride and more. During the “haunted trail hours,” families can test their courage with spooky experiences at dramatic stations around Fort Knox II.

    Price: $8/adult, $5/child under the age of 12

    Join wacky Witch Gertrude, Zombie and Drac as they introduce their Halloween friends. Trick marionettes will perform on a special set with classical music. 

    Tickets are $8 and include popcorn. Children under two are free. Tickets for a post-show workshop will be for sale for $3. Call 317-232-1637 for tickets.

  • Literally, A Haunted House

    Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site

    Scaring since 1985, the Culbertson Mansion’s annual haunted house has all of the thrills and chills you would expect of a haunted house. This haunting takes place in the Carriage House of the Culbertson Mansion. Originally, the carriage house sheltered the family’s horse, buggy and the male servants to the household. After the Mansion was auctioned off, the carriage house fell into disuse, but dark legends abound concerning tragic fires, spiritual activity and even demonic possessions. Are you brave enough to traverse the haunted carriage house of the Culbertson Mansion? Come, if you dare!

    Price: $15/person

  • Guided Tour of the Music of the Wild Nature Preserve

    Limberlost State Historic Site

    During this guided tour, join a Limberlost State Historic Site naturalist on a hike through the Music of the Wild Nature Preserve and Bird Sanctuary. You’ll see incredible wildlife and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the preserve with an expert to point out things you might normally miss.

    This event is $4 per person, and tickets will be purchased at the door.

  • At the Underground Railroad’s Grand Central Station: A Poetry Workshop for Kids

    Levi and Catharine Coffin State Historic Site

    Youth are invited to spend a day with Indiana poet Shari Wagner for a poetry workshop. They will become familiar with the story of Levi and Catharine Coffin, Quakers whose 1839 home was at one time known at the “Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad.” Children will enjoy a guided tour of the Coffin home and then work one-on-one with Wagner, where they will acquire insight into how they can express in words their reactions to the Coffin story and the history of the Underground Railroad. 

    Price: $5 for youth in grades 1 through 8

    This program is supported by the Indiana Arts Commission. Registration is required by Sept. 21 for the Sept. 22 program or Oct. 26 for the Oct. 27 program. Reservations can be made by emailing sharimwagner@aol.com

  • Cardboard Canvas Studio Class (for children ages 8-12)

    Kids already use cardboard to create many fun and imaginative inventions, but in this program, they’ll learn new ways to use the boxes sitting around at home. Participants will use cardboard as a canvas to create a painting, while learning about mixing colors, using cardboard’s unique natural structure to experiment with texture, and discovering creative ways to paint.

  • Halloween Hullabaloo

    Angel Mounds State Historic Site

    Visitors are invited to evenings of spooky fun at Angel Mounds State Historic Site this October. Test your bravery in the Haunted Maze and escape the Mummy’s Curse in “The Tomb.” For those less brave, spend time working on games and crafts and take a tour of the grounds on a haunted hayride. Don’t forget to stop by the concession stand to warm up with a mug of hot chocolate! Visitors are invited to bring their trick-or-treat bags to collect candy throughout the night.

    Price: $5/person, free for children age 3 and younger

  • Ghost Walks - SOLD OUT!

    Lanier Mansion State Historic Site

    This date's event is sold out.

    Is Lanier Mansion haunted? Find out for yourself during a ghost walk this fall. Attendees will go inside the mansion and enjoy a nighttime, behind-the-scenes tour of the home, hearing spooky stories related to the house and its former inhabitants. After the tour, visitors can journey on to three other locations to hear stories about those sites as well, with the final stop at the Broadway Tavern – where participants age 21 and older can enjoy an additional “spirit” if they wish.

    Price: $15/adult, $7/youth ages 12 to 17, not recommended for those under age 12. Reservations are required by calling 812.265.3526.

    Is it choice or fate?  Free will or destiny? Presenting Anthony Truitt and the Dark Parlour, an evening of “Spirit Theatre” will make you question what you see and what you believe. Through a series of unique tests and experiments, you’ll learn about your own mind’s ability to unlock the secrets within the Culbertson Mansion as you experience a true phenomenon of perception.

    Shows are at 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m.

    Price: $15/person for advance purchase, $20/person at the door.

    Just in time for Halloween, get a behind-the-scenes tour of Corydon’s more gruesome history. This walking tour will take you to the alleged haunts around the town, and Corydon Capitol State Historic Site staff will even talk about their own experiences with the unknown inside the Hendricks House and Capitol Building.
