Early Childhood Summer Camps

We offer half-day camps just for your preschoolers! These camps run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily and are filled with age-appropriate activities, imagination play, story time, art projects and gallery exploration. New this year, parents can choose to sign up their camper for an additional hour to enjoy a lunch (packed and brought from home) and experience free-choice play and quiet time.

Member weekly camp cost: $105

SOLD OUT - June 3-7: Becoming a Scientist with PBS’ Sid the Science Kid
Throughout the week, curious campers will explore the world around them by conducting experiments, investigating mysteries and solving problems. These little scientists will be encouraged to think, talk and work like scientists by building curiosity, growing vocabulary and learning about the scientific process. Registration is required by May 20.

July 15-19: Exploring the World Around You with PBS’ Nature Cat
Join Fred the house cat on an adventure as he turns into PBS’ Nature Cat! Campers will become nature experts as they explore the museum galleries and outdoor spaces. Throughout the week, nature campers will investigate the natural world using their senses to investigate and observe, collect natural materials for art making and experimenting and use real science equipment. Registration is required by July 1. 

July 29-Aug. 2: Artful Play Camp
Does your 4- to 6-year-old love to create and explore art? In this camp, they'll will investigate various mediums of art, from painting to sculpting and everything in between. Throughout the week, they'll be inspired by the museum collection and exhibits, design and create their own works of art and work with fellow campers on a collaborative art piece. Registration is required by July 15. 

Special option: Make it a full day camp 
Make it a full day of camp by pairing “Exploring the World Around You with PBS’ Nature Cat” or “Artful Play Camp” (both 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) with a session of Peewinkle's Puppet Play Camp (1 to 4 p.m.). Peewinkle's Puppets offers this camp (and others for older kids) in its studio space on the second floor of the Indiana State Museum. At Puppet Play Camp, campers ages 4-6 will construct a variety of puppets, try out some professional puppets and perform. They will cut, paint, sand and more! Sessions are offered July 15 – 19 and July 29 – August 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuition for the class is $125, with an additional $15 off when paired with one of the above Indiana State Museum camps. Enrollment in lunch bunch care (12 to 1 p.m., $35 per week) may also be necessary, with before care ($30/week, 8 – 9 a.m.) and aftercare (4 – 5:30 p.m., $45 per week) also available. Camp registration can be cancelled or rescheduled to an available camp up to two weeks before the start of camp. Camp registrations cancelled less than two weeks prior to the start of camp will not be refunded. Review our registration, cancelation and bad weather policies here.
