Learning Resource Trunks

From Civil War to Indiana quilts, we have a Learning Resource Trunk perfect for your class! Give your students hands-on activities to help them discover Indiana art, science and culture. Interactive trunks are packed with books, artifacts, posters and activities. Each trunk includes a teacher’s manual and fulfills select Indiana Academic Standards. Learn more >>

Educator Preview Nights: FIX: Heartbreak and Hope Inside Our Opioid Crisis

Four dates only: Feb. 4, March 3, April 6 & May 5; 4-6 p.m.
Are you planning a field trip anytime between February and May? We invite you to preview FIX: Heartbreak and Hope Inside our Opioid Crisis before your field trip. This exhibit is geared for students in grades 5-12 and adults. There will be an educator guide and additional resources available to best assist teachers, students and chaperones before, during and after the field trip. Museum staff and partners will be available to ask questions during the preview.
Space is limited and reservations are required and can be made by calling Visitor Services at 317.232.1637.

Pre- and Post- Visit Activities

There are so many wondrous things about Indiana that a single field trip can’t cover it all. Extend the fun and learning beyond your visit to Indiana State Museum. Utilize these pre- and post-visit activities to prepare your students for their field trip and connect to classroom learning. 2019-2020 guides will be available Sept. 3.

Chaperone Guides

Do you want to provide more guidance and support for your chaperones? These guides are a great tool! It includes a map of the museum and questions to ask students to encourage curiosity and critical thinking. Guides are separated by grade-level to focus on academic standards. 2019-2020 guides will be available Sept. 3.

Lincoln Collection Tours for Educators

October 12, 2019 OR March 14, 2020; 1-3 p.m.
The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites holds one of the world’s most comprehensive collection of Lincoln artifacts, the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection. Learn about the history of the collection and the objects within on a behind-the-scenes tour from our chief curator then stroll through our galleries for key points of interest with an ISM educator. Open to all Indiana educators. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Krystle Mangan at 317.509.7679 or email kmangan@indianamuseum.org.
