Event Spaces


Museum Package

(Accommodates up to 2,500 guests)

For a full museum experience, our Museum Package is for you. Including all available rental spaces (with the exception of the Dean & Barbara White Auditorium and the IMAX Theater) and museum galleries too, your guests will experience all that makes the Indiana State Museum so great!

Governor Frank & Judy O’Bannon Great Hall & Ball Family Terrace

(Accommodates 250 guests with room for dancing, 350 without dancing, 500 for a cocktail reception)

The iconic INDIANA obelisk graces the center of the Great Hall, lending elegance and unmistakable Hoosier presence to events. With the canal flowing outside and the breathtaking architecture indoors, the Great Hall is a remarkable venue for any event.

Rapp Reception Hall

(Accommodates 80 guests for seated dinner, 250 for a cocktail reception*)

With striking views of downtown Indianapolis, the Rapp Reception Hall’s location in the heart of the museum makes it a beautiful setting for a wedding reception. Your guests will enjoy visiting the NiSource Gallery (pending exhibit availability) and peering into the museum’s permanent exhibitions located below.
*Due to our bicentennial celebration, events in 2016 will have a decreased capacity for this event space.

Farmers Market Café & Terrace

(Accommodates 100 guests for a seated dinner, 150 for a cocktail reception)

Soaring ceilings and a beautiful backdrop combine with canal views to make the Farmers Market Café & Terrace an ideal location for an elegant event. The terrace gives guests an opportunity to enjoy the museum’s outdoor offerings, while the Café brings the same open feeling indoors.

Canal Overlook Bridge

(Accommodates 60 guests for a seated dinner, 200 for a cocktail reception)

With its contemporary design and views of White River State Park, the Canal Overlook Bridge is a spectacular location for an event.

L.S. Ayres Tea Room

(Accommodates 64 guests for a seated dinner, 100 for a cocktail reception)

Nostalgic elegance and delicious food make the L.S. Ayres Tea Room a lovely venue for a range of events. A recreation of the original, your guests will be immersed in a beautiful setting throughout your event.

Dean and Barbara White Auditorium

(Accommodates 240 guests)

When you need to communicate with a live audience, the Dean and Barbara White Auditorium provides a beautiful setting. From conferences to presentations, ceremonies to performances, the space can certainly meet your needs. The Auditorium features studio-quality lighting and state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment.

Earl A. Goode Education Center

(Accommodates 100 guests)

The Earl A. Goode Education Center is the ideal location for a large meeting in a historical setting. Housed behind the façade of Oscar C. McCulloch School #5, this is a versatile space that offers a variety of configurations to meet your needs. A laptop, screen and projector are available for an additional fee.
