The Indiana State Museum partners with state-wide experts from the fields of science, art and history who can share their latest findings or simply blow things up. Join in lively conversations or build teams to compete in unique challenges.

The Ultimate Engineering Challenge

Do you have mad engineering or design skills? Do you have an inner MacGyver screaming to get out? Then this challenge is for you! Pull together a team of your five best DIY friends and put your skills to the test competing for the ultimate bragging rights. Each month, your team will have three hours to design, engineer and build a new challenge out of cardboard. This event is for those 21 and older, and beer, wine and snacks will be available for purchase.

Cardboard Canvas Studio Class (for Adults) 

Are you ready to move beyond building rocket ships and submarines and find new ways to use cardboard? Explore cardboard as a creative material by using it as a canvas for your own painting. Participants will learn about mixing colors and use cardboard’s unique natural structure to experiment with texture and creative ways to paint.

Discovery on Draft brings together science experts, science-interested adults, and of course…beer! Join other members of the community as we hear professional testimony about various science topics and engage in conversations about how they apply to our world.

Books, Booze & Brains

At long last, three of our favorite things—books, booze and science—are coming together in a new monthly book club for the scientifically curious! This new group will meet monthly at Centerpoint Brewing in Indianapolis to talk about recent popular science books. A local scientist whose research relates to the book topic will join us to share insights and help guide the conversation.
