INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 13, 2018) – On Dec. 7, visitors to the Indiana State Museum are invited to put on their dancing shoes and best ‘40s attire for a 1940s Dance Hall – a brand new event featuring food, dancing and drinks.
This event is for ages 21+, and ticket purchase includes light appetizers, fresh donuts and a free signature cocktail, including a Gin Rickey or Cuba Libre. Additional drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased in advance at indianamuseum.org, by calling 317-232-1637 or by credit card at the door.
WHAT: During World War II, the United Service Organization (USO) was founded to provide recreational events to members of the U.S. military – including dances. During this event, attendees are invited to don their best 1940s attire and dance the night away USO-style while enjoying snacks and drinks. Naptown Stomp will partner with the museum to provide swing dance lessons at the event and DJ throughout the night. Attendees can also send a 1940s “tweet” using a typewriter, take a selfie with Rosie the Riveter and participate in contests for various prizes throughout the evening. No previous dance experience is required.
