EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The public is invited to the annual Native American Fine Art Show and Sale November 5 and 6 at Angel Mounds State Historic Site, located at 8215 Pollack Ave. in Evansville, Ind. An opening night reception will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
Angel Mounds State Historic Site staff has hand selected Native American artists from around the United States to show and sell their pieces.
“This is one of our signature events at Angel Mounds and it falls within National Native American Month,” said Mike Linderman, Angel Mounds State Historic Site manager. “We are always happy to have these great artists at the site, showing traditional and contemporary art, ranging from jewelry to painting and flute making. The event is a great cross section of what is offered by some of the best in the country.”
Abraham Begay, award winning Navajo jeweler, returns this year from Flagstaff, Ariz. Abe’s work has been highlighted at art fairs in the Southwest United States, as well as at the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis.
Indiana resident Katrina Mitten will display her beadwork that has been featured at the Smithsonian for its high level of detail. Katrina is Miami and resides in Northern Indiana.
