GENEVA, Ind. – Take a short night hike, enjoy a presentation about nature, socialize and relax around a roaring campfire during Marsh After Dark. Join the Limberlost State Historic Site staff and volunteers at the Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. for an evening of outdoor fun.
“Campfire fun is the focus of Marsh After Dark," said Bill Hubbard, Limberlost State Historic Site naturalist. “People have gathered around a campfire to socialize and be entertained for thousands of years, and we are doing the same!”
The evening will begin with a night hike, giving participants the ability to experience the marsh from a different perspective. The hike is followed by the popular and perplexing “mystery boxes” where participants will be quizzed on guessing nature items by touch! Following a presentation about nature, participants will gather around the campfire for the Firelight Theater Variety Show. Anyone who wishes to may entertain with a story, song, dance or poem. The evening will end with hot chocolate, s’mores and toasted marshmallows.
Marsh After Dark will begin at the Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve parking lot, located at 8323 N. 250W, which is a half mile north of Highway 18 on county road 250W, 3.5 miles west of Bryant, Ind.
The program is $4 per adult, $3 per child ages 3 through 17.
This event will be held regardless of weather conditions, so dress appropriately. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight.
