EVANSVILLE, Ind. – As part of the state’s bicentennial celebration, the public is invited to Celebrate the Indiana Bicentennial, A Traveling Exhibition on view September 3 through October 16, 2016 at Angel Mounds State Historic Site, located at 8215 Pollack Ave. in Evansville, Ind. The exhibition will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
“We are excited to share this sample of the main exhibition at the Indiana State Museum with the people of Southwest Indiana,” said Mike Linderman, Angel Mounds State Historic Site manager. “We are excited to let them know how great our state is during this bicentennial year.”
The panel show highlights many 2- and 3-dimensional objects showcasing Hoosier innovation and its impact around the world and how change has been happening in Indiana since the beginning of time. These objects are featured in the museum’s bicentennial exhibition Indiana in 200 Objects: A Bicentennial Celebration, which is on view now through Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017.
From Indiana’s early artists to modernism today, a select group of fine art pieces and their stories are also included in the panel show. These items are currently seen in 200 Years of Indiana Art: A Cultural Legacy, a second bicentennial show on view in Indianapolis now through Sunday, Oct. 2.
The exhibition was recently on view in Indianapolis at Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration and at the Indiana State Fair.
The exhibition is included with site admission and is open to the public.
