At the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, we are so excited to welcome back visitors to our locations. We hope you're as ready as we are to learn, explore and enjoy the summer! As you plan your visit, we want you to know that we are doing everything we can to ensure your visit is safe, while still allowing you to have a great experience. Things may look a little different for now - but we promise your time here won't be any less memorable. We hope to see you soon.



  • Advanced ticket purchases are not required. You can purchase your tickets online and save $1, or at the museum ticket counter upon arrival.
  • Beginning Friday, June 3, all locations are requiring visitors ages 2 and older to wear a mask during their visit to our locations unless you are medically unable. Masks will be provided to visitors who need them.
  • To allow for appropriate social distancing, visitors are invited to walk through the galleries in one direction.
  • Gallery capacities are being monitored closely.

  • High-touch spaces including Firefly Landing and R.B. Annis Naturalist's Lab are closed.
  • The Museum Store will be open and is offering double discounts for our members. Learn more>>
  • The Farmers Market Café will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu consists of soup, grab & go sandwiches, a seasonal salad and beverages. Non-cash transactions are preferred, and socially distanced seating is available indoors and outdoors on the terrace.

  • Hand sanitizer is readily available throughout the museum.
  • Masks are required beginning Friday, June 3.
  • Barriers are in place to separate you and museum staff where you buy admission.
  • Emphasis is on contact-free experiences with socially distanced queues.
  • Capacities are limited to ensure space for social distancing.
  • Restrooms, public spaces, galleries and high-touch surfaces are cleaned and sanitized at increased intervals.
  • Staff are doing daily health checks prior to arriving to work.
  • Staff are wearing face coverings/masks when interacting with you or moving through public spaces.
  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 recently or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or shortness of breath), please stay home and plan a future visit instead.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is making efforts to ensure a reasonably safe environment by following government safety guidelines, however the safety of visitors cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the pandemic and the nature of our sites. By visiting any of our 12 locations, you voluntarily assume all risks related to COVID-19.
