At the Lanier Mansion in Madison, visitors can take a guided tour of the “crown jewel” of Madison’s national historic landmark district. Situated on the banks of the Ohio River, with that picturesque view from the magnificent south portico, the mansion is one of the country’s best examples of Greek Revival architecture. Visitors will also learn about banking and railroad magnate James F. D. Lanier and discover how he helped ensure Indiana could stay in the Civil War on the side of the Union.
Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Advanced registration is encouraged by calling us at 812.265.3526.
