Visitor Code of Conduct

For the safety and well-being of all our visitors and staff, please respect the following conduct policies.

Accompanied Minors

All PreK-12 field trip students must be accompanied by a school-appointed adult chaperone. Anyone younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Behavior

  • As a family-friendly attraction, we expect that all behaviors toward and interactions with visitors and staff be kind and avoid all offensive, abusive or threatening language or physical contact. Hate speech based on race, nationality, gender or religion, and/or disorderly conduct will result in removal from the property.
  • Let’s walk through the museum and historic sites – you may miss all the cool things or get hurt if you run.
  • We expect all visitors to respect the museum and historic sites by not damaging or defacing items, artifacts or exhibits. Before taking a photo, please turn off the flash first to help us protect the artwork.

This is a smoke-free environment including e-cigarettes.

Weapons
Weapons of any type including firearms, knives, tasers, stun guns and pepper spray are prohibited at the museum and historic sites.

All visitors must wear a shirt, pants and shoes. Clothing that includes offensive/vulgar language or graphics is not permitted.

Food and Drinks
Our collection requires great care, and all food and drinks need to be enjoyed before entering any exhibit area.

Service Animals and Pets
We welcome ADA recognized service animals but please do not bring pets or emotional support animals inside the museum or into buildings at the historic sites. Feel free to enjoy the outdoor grounds with your leashed pets. At Angel Mounds State Historic Site, pets are not allowed on the mounds or inside the buildings, but leashed pets can enjoy the trails and non-archaeological areas.
