The Indiana State Museum offers hands-on interactive professional development workshops for early childhood educators, either at the museum or at your school.

From nature-based play to social-emotional learning, literacy and storytelling, our trained educators are here to engage and inspire you to learn more about these topics. Let us help you bring excitement to your classrooms.

Nature-Based Play

We will explore the importance of nature-based play and how to incorporate this learning into your classrooms. Teachers will discuss research based, open-ended teaching strategies and engage in hands-on activities that use natural materials in a variety of ways that include elements of STEAM and sensory-focused learning opportunities. You’re encouraged to take part in activities that will be included in the curriculum guide.

Social Emotional Learning

Explore the importance of social emotional learning for preschool-aged students and how to support your students’ development in your classrooms. Teachers will engage in various hands-on activities and participate in a discussion on how to connect with their students through open-ended play.
