We ignite wonder, inspire curiosity, reveal stories and create connections.
We connect people to real stories, real places and real objects—because the more we understand where we’ve been, the better we can imagine where we’re going. Whether you’re standing beside an Ice Age mastodon or in the same room where Indiana’s first laws were passed, every visit invites discovery.
We ignite wonder, inspire curiosity, reveal stories and create connections.
To create relevant engaging experiences fueled by our collection, sites and stories that connect with Hoosier audiences.
We are a museum and historic site system rooted throughout Indiana to serve Hoosiers — but made for everyone.
Our 11 historic sites span the state and share stories of the Underground Railroad, renowned artists, beautiful mansions and Native American earthworks, to name a few.
Together, these locations hold more than 500,000 objects that illuminate the human experience, the natural world and the Hoosier spirit.
Our flagship museum, located in White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis, is itself a work of art—constructed with Indiana limestone and sandstone and adorned with sculptures representing each of the state’s 92 counties.
Inside, you’ll find three floors of galleries and exhibits exploring Indiana’s art, science, culture and innovation—from Ice Age fossils to future-focused ideas.
