At Limberlost in Geneva (Adams County), visitors can take a guided indoor tour of Gene Stratton-Porter’s home to see where Indiana’s most prolific female author wrote many of her books, including her two most famous novels, “Freckles” and “A Girl of the Limberlost.” An avid naturalist, Stratton-Porter created the large log cabin to reflect the beauty of the outdoors, and some of the home’s most unique features include the rich wood paneling, carved furniture, ornate Lincrusta wall details and even a case filled with moth and butterfly specimens that she collected through the years.
Tours will be offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and advance registration is encouraged by calling us at 260.368.7428.
