Now in it’s 40th year, Native American Days is back! Experience this vibrant celebration of indigenous culture and tradition, featuring fine art, live performances, family-friendly activities, demonstrations, traditional food and more. See the Pokagon Band of the Potawatomi lead a drum circle and encourage visitors to dance with the Iron Bear Singers. Children can make their own corn husk dolls and try their hand at the archery range.
A highlight of the festivities is the free Native American Fine Arts Show and Sale on Friday, Sept. 26, from 6-9 p.m. featuring the works of five federally recognized Native American artists from across the U.S. The vendor market with their work, as well as Native-inspired merchandise from other vendors, will be open Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can also sample traditional foods, interact with museum experts and get up close to unique Native American artifacts.
Native American Days is also a perfect opportunity to see and interact with the newly transformed interpretive center, which highlights the complexities of the historic site and the special meaning this sacred place has for modern native descendants.
Native American Days is funded by Lilly Endowment, Inc. through its Partnership Fund.
