Celebrate the First Day of Spring

Join us in celebration and explore the connections the Mississippian peoples made between culture and the cosmos! See the celestial alignment, discover Native American mythology through the lens of astronomy and more.

Activities Schedule

4:30–5:30 p.m. CT: Starlab Exploration: Explore Native American mythology through the lens of astronomy in our Starlab planetarium.
5:30–6 p.m. CT: Intro to Astronomy Talk: Hear from NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Mandy Scurry.
6–6:45 p.m. CT: Space Science Activities/Crafts: Interactive stations will allow you to explore, investigate and better understand our place in space. Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts can also earn their Space Science Explorer, Adventurer and Investigator badges by completing these activities.
6:45–7:45 p.m. CT: Free choice

  • Sunset Yoga: Enjoy the first sunset of spring with a yoga practice at the site led by our pals at Yoga 101.
  • Starlab Exploration II: Explore Native American mythology through the lens of astronomy in our Starlab planetarium.
  • Angel Mounds Exploration: Self-guided site and mounds tour.

7:30–9 p.m. CT: Telescope Stargazing: Learn about stars and constellations and view celestial objects through a telescope.
