Enjoy a free night of family fun at Spooky Science

INDIANAPOLIS — Dress in your Halloween best for a night of Spooky Science at the Indiana State Museum. The free, family-friendly event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.  Enjoy a shocking display of static electricity, test your wild survival skills, make magic minerals glow in the dark and meet our mad scientist! There will also be an area for preschoolers to enjoy a balloon pit, sensory bins, coloring activities and blocks.

Do you think your costume has what it takes to scare up a prize? Strut your stuff in our parade and enter to win in categories like spookiest costume, best science costume, best homemade costume and best Indiana-themed costume. Registration will be open until the Costume Parade begins at 7:30 p.m.  Winners will be announced following the parade.

Floating Ghosts and Bats – make paper ghosts and bats float using static electricity

Glow-in-the-Dark Minerals – see how a little black light can turn seemingly ordinary minerals fluorescent

Poison vs. Venom – they may seem the same, but learn how they are actually very different

Poison in the Body – learn the science of antidotes and anti-venoms

Mad Scientist Demonstrations – watch as he performs experiments with dry ice and slime

Survival Science – learn about primitive survival skills like making fire and water filtration
