INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Museum invites you to enjoy a family-friendly night out downtown this summer with Canal Nights. The free event series features themed activities from 6 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday in June and July on the canal side of the museum.

From games to science and art, each Wednesday offers a different hands-on experience for everyone in the family. Bring out your inner artist while painting on our community mural, challenge your family to a game of cornhole or try to stay dry with our wacky water experiments!

“We are excited to spend Wednesday nights on the downtown canal offering free family fun,” said Katelyn Coyne, gallery and public programs developer for the museum. “It’s really a great way for us at the museum to engage with the community and give families a chance to get out, enjoy the weather and spend some quality time together.”

There will also be a special night for museum members on June 28 that will feature additional activities just for our members, including a behind-the-scenes museum tour and a meet-and-greet with new President and CEO Cathy Ferree.

The Indiana State Museum is proud to announce CBS4 Indy as our media partner for this year’s Canal Nights. You’ll now be able to “know before you go” with the official Canal Nights forecast every Wednesday morning and afternoon on CBS4 on-air and online!

The Eiteljorg Museum, located next to the Indiana State Museum, will also offer special Wednesday evening programming on the canal in June and July from 5 to 8 p.m. Summer Under the Sails features live music starting at 6 p.m., food and family activities. Admission to the museum and the exhibit, Dogs: Faithful and True, is also free those evenings. Visit eiteljorg.org for the full lineup.
