METAMORA, Ind. – Due to structural circumstances at the historic Duck Creek Aqueduct, also known as the Metamora Aqueduct and Whitewater Canal Aqueduct, rides on the Ben Franklin III Canal Boat at Whitewater Canal State Historic Site have ended for the season.

“Engineers have been called in to evaluate the structure and we await the decision on how best to enact the repairs to maintain the nation’s only covered bridge aqueduct,” said Laura Minzes, Associate Vice President of State Historic Sites. “The Aqueduct, which is a National Historic Landmark, will be constantly monitored to ensure the protection of this treasure.”
