INDIANAPOLIS — Don’t miss your chance to see Nature Unleashed: Inside Natural Disasters at the Indiana State Museum. The traveling exhibition, on loan from the Field Museum in Chicago, goes inside the forces that drive earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes and volcanoes to help explain what causes these natural phenomena to happen. It also looks at the human impact, and the technology used to help detect and prevent future natural disasters. Nature Unleashed closes May 29.

As Nature Unleashed ends its run here at the museum, we are busy getting ready for our next exciting exhibitions.

Science at Play, which opens on July 22, is the first major museum exhibition to explore the many facets of chemistry sets for children. The exhibition draws from the Chemical Heritage Foundation’s collection of more than 250 science kits and toys. Science at Play runs until January 15, 2018.

The Power of Poison debuts on October 21. The exhibition explores the scientific process to transform toxins intended to kill into compounds that can cure. It also looks at the mystery surrounding some of history’s most notorious poisonings. Poison runs through February 11, 2018.

The museum’s family-friendly Canal Nights kicks off June 7. The free series takes place every Wednesday in June and July from 6 to 8 p.m. on the canal side of the museum and offers games, art and science activities for the whole family.

Nature Unleashed is presented by Lilly as part of the Year of Science. The exhibition is contributed to by Rolls-Royce and Purdue Science: Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences.
