ROME CITY, Ind. – Join the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site for a relaxing evening with friends. Create one-of-a-kind art pieces to take home, while enjoying light snacks and local wines from Byler Lane Winery. The state historic site will host the Sip & Create series on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 18. Both sessions will begin at 6 p.m.

Participants in the session on Oct. 7 can choose to create a river pebble owl, complete with a piece of puddingstone, or a seashell heart with shells collected from Florida’s famous Sanibel Island. On Nov. 18 participants will create a seasonal wreath.

Attendees will receive all supplies needed to create artwork and will be guided on assembly.

The materials used in these crafts reflect Gene’s love for nature, many of which you may see as décor in her home or used as subject matter for her beautiful “Fireplace of Friendship.” The site has used these as an inspiration for the series.

Cost is $25 per person and includes wine, light snacks and craft supplies. Reservations are required by Oct. 4 for the October session and Nov. 10 for the November session, and should be made by calling the site at 260.854.3790.

Attendees must be 21 or older. Cabin tours are not included for this event.

All proceeds go towards educational programming, continued restoration and improvement to the gardens and grounds.
