Honorable Randall T. Shepard to be honored at 2018 Tribute gala

INDIANAPOLIS (May 29, 2018) – Retired Chief Justice Randall Shepard, a seventh-generation Hoosier, will be honored at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites’ Tribute gala beginning at 6 p.m. on June 20. He will be honored with the Heritage Keeper Award, and he’ll also share his insights from his time behind the Indiana Supreme Court bench.

Chief Justice Shepard was the youngest chief justice at the time he was appointed, and at the time of his retirement, he was the longest-serving chief justice in Indiana history and the most senior chief justice in the country’s supreme courts.

“Chief Justice Shepard has made a lasting impact on the state of Indiana, and we are privileged to be able to honor him for that service with the Heritage Keeper Award,” said Cathy Ferree, president and CEO of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites.

Event attendees will enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and they’ll be invited to explore a unique arrangement of items curated exclusively for this special event, including Indiana’s 1816 and 1851 Constitutions, on loan from the Indiana Archives and Records Administration.

After retired Chief Justice Shepard is honored for his achievements, leadership and service to the state of Indiana, he will then be joined by additional guests for a moderated panel discussion.

Following the discussion, attendees will enjoy dinner stations and live music from The Doo!.

More information about Tribute can be found on the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites website. RSVPs are required by June 8.

Media are invited to cover the event, and file photos from past Tribute galas can be found here.
