Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites

On this guided walking tour, you’ll see notable sites in town and learn how the Newport community worked together as part of the Underground Railroad. The Coffins were instrumental in providing this support, but there were others who worked with the Quaker couple to keep freedom–seekers hidden and moving north. The tour will also emphasize what the town was like when Levi and Catharine Coffin were residents. Registration required one day prior to the program.
