Historic Newport Walking Tour
Newport, Indiana – now known as Fountain City – was well known before the Civil War as a place of safety for freedom seekers, or runaway slaves. On this half-mile walking tour, visit certain locations in town and find out how Newport residents worked together as part of the Underground Railroad. Registration required 24 hours prior to program date.
