Last the Winter: The History and Science of Food Preservation
Before the days of refrigeration, families had to make sure they had enough food stored to last through the cold months. Salting, pickling, smoking and drying helped families preserve food they worked so hard to grow and cultivate throughout the spring, summer and fall. Families and groups will explore preservation techniques, then choose spices to produce a pickled jar to take home with them – just in time for Thanksgiving! Registration required by Nov. 16.
Price: $8/adults, $6/seniors, $4/youth, 25% discount for members
