Levi Coffin’s First Home: New Garden and the Underground Railroad

Levi and Catharine Coffin lived in a community of anti-slavery Quakers known as New Garden, North Carolina, before moving to Newport – or Fountain City as it’s known today. Join Guilford County, North Carolina, historians Drs. Max Carter and Adrienne Israel as they discuss the importance of New Garden and the area’s influences during Levi’s formative years. Registration required by 5 p.m. on April 8.
