Did you know actress Marjorie Main – who was kno Did you know actress Marjorie Main – who was known for her role as Ma Kettle in the Ma and Pa Kettle movies – was born #OnThisDay in 1890 in Acton, Indiana? 🤔 

She attended @franklincollegegrizzlies and studied dramatic arts in Kentucky, Chicago and New York City before moving to Hollywood. Main began her career as a vaudeville performer and later appeared in films, earning a Golden Globe nomination for a supporting role in "Friendly Persuasion." 

She earned an Oscar nomination for her role in "The Egg and I," in which she debuted her "Ma Kettle" character.

Did you know Hoosier Group artist Richard B. Gruel Did you know Hoosier Group artist Richard B. Gruelle was born on this day in Cynthiana, Kentucky, in 1851? 🤔

A self-taught artist, Gruelle first created a studio in Illinois before moving to Indianapolis in 1882 to pursue landscape painting full time. He was a member of the original "Hoosier Five," who exhibited in Chicago in 1894 and later became known as the Hoosier Group. Gruelle is the least known of the group as he didn't paint regularly with the other members.

These paintings by Gruelle are now part of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites collection.

Happy birthday, Norman Bridwell! 🎉 Did you know Happy birthday, Norman Bridwell! 🎉 Did you know the author best known for "Clifford the Big Red Dog" children's book series was born on this day in 1928 in Kokomo, Indiana?

Bridwell took an interest in drawing while growing up in Kokomo and attended John Herron Art Institute – now known as @herronschool – before moving to New York.

While working as a commercial artist, Bridwell attempted to find extra work illustrating books. An editor suggested he write a story to go along with his illustrations, and that suggestion led to his first story about Emily Elizabeth and her big red dog, Clifford.
